Reading the workspace Dashboard
What each Dashboard figure counts, which are workspace-wide and which are yours, and why a number can differ from a task list.
Dashboard appears in the sidebar inside a workspace, for Owners and Admins on a paid plan. It answers two different questions on one screen, and each half is labelled with the question it answers.
The two halves
Across this workspace counts every non-archived task in the workspace, no matter who created it or who it is assigned to.
Your tasks counts only your own work in this workspace: tasks assigned to you, plus tasks you created that nobody has been assigned to. The status donut, the completion charts, and Recent Tasks all describe this same set.
So the workspace half is normally the larger number. They are not two versions of one figure, and they are not meant to match.
What counts as a workspace task
A task belongs to the workspace when its project does. Everything on this page is counted that way, which is why a project in your Personal context can never contribute to a workspace figure.
Subtasks are not counted. They are checklist items inside a parent task, and the board, the sidebar badge, and this page all count the parent once. A project showing "1" in the sidebar contributes 1 to Open Tasks, even if that task has five subtasks under it.
What each figure counts

Overdue and Due This Week never count the same task. Something past its date is overdue, and is reported once.
Days, weeks, and your timezone
Every "today" and "this week" figure uses the timezone on your profile, and the week runs Monday to Sunday. Set it in Settings → Profile; without one, days are measured in UTC and may not match your own.
Due dates are compared by calendar day. A task due today is not overdue at any point during today, whatever time of day is on it.
Completed counts, and older tasks
Completion figures count when a task was completed, not when it was last edited. Renaming a task you finished months ago does not move it into this week.
Tasks completed before VA To-Do began recording completion times carry no timestamp. They are still counted in Total Tasks and in the status donut, but they cannot appear in a weekly or daily figure, so history before that point reads low. Everything completed from now on is counted exactly.
The charts
Status Distribution splits your tasks by status. Its centre total matches Total Tasks.
Daily Completions has one point per day, stopping at today. It does not plot days that have not happened. Its total matches the Completed card beside it.
Task Velocity shows the last eight weeks of completions. The final bar is the week in progress and is drawn faded, because it is still filling up and is not comparable to the finished weeks next to it.
Week, Month, and 30 Days
The tabs change the reporting window for the Completed card and the Daily Completions chart. Everything else, including Total Tasks, Overdue, and the whole workspace half, describes the situation right now and does not move with the tabs.
Export
Export downloads the whole screen as a CSV: both halves, each row labelled with its scope, plus the reporting period and the timezone the figures were measured in.
If a number looks wrong
The Dashboard caches for five minutes, so a task you just changed may take that long to appear. Reload the page after a few minutes before treating a figure as a bug.
If a count still disagrees with a task list, check which half you are reading. "Your tasks" excludes work assigned to other people, which is the most common reason a Dashboard figure is smaller than what the Inbox shows an Admin.
