Time tracking overview

What time tracking does, who can use it, and what it records.

Time tracking records hours against the projects in an Agency workspace. Owners and Admins get timesheets and reports across the whole team; everyone else records and reviews their own time.

Who can track time

You can track time when all of these are true:

  1. You are working inside a workspace whose owner has an active Agency plan.
  2. Your workspace membership is active.
  3. Time tracking has not been switched off for you by an Owner or Admin.

What you can track against

Only workspace projects. A personal project has no timer, and works normally in every other respect. See Personal vs Workspace projects.

Within a workspace project you can time either:

  • the project, for general work that has no single task, or
  • a specific task in it.

Where to find it

Inside a workspace, the sidebar shows:

  • Time tracker for Owners and Admins, opening on the team view.
  • My time for everyone else.

If neither appears, either you are in your Personal context, the workspace is not on Agency, or tracking has been switched off for you.

Entries are read-only once saved

A finished entry is a timesheet record. Members cannot edit or delete their own entries after saving them. Corrections are made by an Owner or Admin.

The one exception is a solo Agency subscriber with no team at all: with no admin to ask, their own entries stay editable.

See Team timesheets.
