What happens after a downgrade
Exactly what changes, and what is kept, when you move to a smaller plan.
Short version: nothing is deleted. Features that need a higher plan stop working, and anything already over the new limit is kept but frozen.
Pro to Free
Kept: every project, task, comment, and file. Your whole Career Vault. Your Career Profile content and its link.
Changes:
- A published Career Profile is set back to Draft, and the public page stops
resolving. See Career Profile.
- A premium theme color falls back to Default. See
- The Calendar view is no longer selectable.
- Folders you already have stay in the sidebar with your projects still in
them, and you can still rename, empty, or delete them. You cannot create a new folder until you are back on Pro. See Group projects into folders.
- Projects over the limit stay and stay usable, but you cannot create a new
one until you are under 3.
- Tasks over the limit stay, but you cannot create new ones until active
tasks are under 50. Completing tasks frees room.
- Collaborators over the limit keep their access. You cannot add anyone new
until you are under 1.
- The Daily Briefing and Weekly Report stop being sent, and **custom
reminder timing** returns to the standard reminder. How you had them set up is kept, so upgrading brings your times, days and sections back exactly as they were. See Notifications.
- **Task reminders, assignments, mentions, comments and invitations keep
working.** They are on every plan.
Agency to Pro
Kept: your personal projects, tasks, and Career Vault.
Changes:
- The workspace and everything in it depends on the Agency subscription.
Members lose access, and their sponsored Pro ends.
- Time tracking stops. Running timers are closed and **the work already done
is saved**; nothing recorded is discarded.
- Career Vault becomes visible again by default, since the Agency hiding rule
no longer applies.
- The Weekly Report keeps working, without its time-tracked section.
Agency to Free
Everything in both sections above.
When a sponsorship ends
If your Pro came from an Agency seat and that seat goes away, you are treated exactly as a Pro to Free downgrade. See the first section.
This happens when you are removed from the workspace, when you leave, when the agency's subscription lapses, or when the workspace is deleted.
When a payment lapses rather than being cancelled
The same rules apply. A published Career Profile is taken down the next time it is requested, even without an explicit cancellation, because publishing requires a current Pro plan.
Getting back
Upgrading restores everything immediately:
- Re-publish your Career Profile, which still has all its content
- Re-select your theme color
- Create projects and tasks again
- On Agency, your workspace and its projects return with the subscription
Nothing needs re-uploading or re-typing.
